It will be available wholesale through Bailey Nurseries in 2009.
The panicles of yellow trumpets that rise above its variegated foliage will be only one of the reasons it will be popular. It is also attractive, compact, durable, non-invasive and adaptable!
“Cool Splash is a densely branched deciduous shrub that creates a focal point as it establishes. A natural colonizer, it is hardy to USDA Zones 4-9. It reaches an average height of two to three feet and tolerates a wide range of soil types. It performs best in the lower Midwest with light afternoon shade and moist, well-drained soil.
[Established in 1990, the Landscape Plant Development Center is the brainchild of Executive Director Dr. Harold Pellett. who served as a professor of Horticultural Science for over 36 years at the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Pellett envisioned an organization that would organize and focus the scientific research and resources in universities and arboreta and so developed the Landscape Plant Development Center to realize the great potential in plant breeding.
To date, Dr. Pellett's plant research and breeding at the University of Minnesota has produced over 25 shrub and tree varieties. His work has earned him numerous awards for his contributions to the field of landscape horticulture.]
